Spring 2013 End of Session Charity Jack & Jill Tournament : Congratulations to Kendra Fuller and Michael Franklin for winning our Spring 2013 End of Session Jack & Jill Tournament for Charity! Kendra and Michael strolled into the final match undefeated and walked away with a $250 prize. Runner up team Kaori Hornbaker and Ron Hornbaker earned their prize money of $150!

Third place was shared by Jill Jacobs and Dick Mills, Shirley Stutz and Doug Robertson. Prize $50 each team!

We raised $540 for UCSF Children's Hospital! Pics will be up in the next few days!

Special thank you to all 27 teams that showed up, assistant Tournament Director Valerie Russell and Diana Bowers for helping out handing out patches. Let's do this again, next Jack and Jill Tournament will be held in July after Tri-Cup and City Championship tournaments.

Spring 2013 Mid Session Jack & Jill Charity Tournament : Saturday. February 16, 2013.

Family Billiards. APA Jack and Jill scotch doubles tournament. 23 teams, 46 people, 37 matches raising $745 for MS
The event showcased a Calcutta to raise money for MS research; we raised a total of $745.
$460 came from the entry fees at $10 per person while the Calcutta raised $185.
Nina Dy put us up to the mark with a generous donation of $100.
The winners of the Calcutta were Jay Ohmer and Stephani Sheehan splitting $125 with their team of tournament champs
Asim Khan and Gerlie Mendoza. Renee Mata took the 2nd place team and split $60 with Molly Jacobstein and Jonathan Saldivar.
Not a bad day by any stretch of the imagination.

The buzz in the air as the twenty-three teams gathered around a couple pool tables was palpable and
then Ned gave a rousing speech and answered questions; easing everyone into their game-faces.
Out of thirty-seven matches played one team came out on top, but everyone walked away with a competitive experience,
some lost gracefully some left heated, such is the outcome of Saturday afternoon pool tournaments.
As long as we all have fun, shoot the best game we can muster, and play with sportsmanship we’ll manage to continue putting on solid events. Once the pre-tournament meeting was over, Tim Aulman called out the bids for the Calcutta and soon after that we began pushing the balls around.
The format was a modified single elimination with the first round losers getting a second chance playing 9 ball.
As each round came to an end the games alternated on the winning side from 8 ball to 9 ball and back again.

The Jack and Jill tournament was handicapped at a combined total of ten skill level points showcasing a wide range of skill levels and combinations.
Jay Ohmer and Stephani Sheehan, combined for a skill level 9, shared the 3rd place platform with
Kendra Fuller and Darell Haslip which combined brought their handicap to SL 10.
Each team took home $75, but were bested by the winners and the runners up.
The runner up team was comprised of Molly Jacobstein and Jonothan Saldivar taking home $125,
they beat Kendra and Darell as a SL 5 by combination and made it to the finals.
The look of incredulous shock on their faces when they found out they made it to the finals was priceless.

The winners of the day took no losses and managed a campaign of steady shooting, sending their opponents packing the whole day long.
The winning combination rated a combined skill level of 8 and took home $225. The winners of the Jack and Jill scotch doubles tournament are
Asim Khan and Gerlie Mendoza, congratulations to them and to all the teams that participated.

The prize fund was provided by Golden Gate APA. Events like these are easy with the right people helping out a special thanks to Valerie Russell for her assistance in running the tournament, Tim Aulman for running the Calcutta tournament, Nina Dy for her charitable donation, Family Billiards for providing us the space and tables free of charge and all the APA members that attended the tournament for the fun of it and the cause we raised money for.

2012 9-Ball Southwest Challenge : Two teams from San Francisco represented Golden Gate APA at annual
9-Ball Southwest Challenge at Riviera Hotel & Casino Resort on October 26-27 2012
Team were the San Francisco #1 The defending Champions from 2011.

San Francisco #1: Ben Mansell, Anathea Meade, and Jamie Brown.
San Francisco #2: Wyatt Sandberg, Barry O'Hara, and Reno Ybarra.

Both teams did great against 100 other teams in the field.
Congratulations to both teams for getting into the money!

San francisco #1 shared 9th with 7 other teams out total of 103 teams.
San francisco #2 shared 5th with 3 other teams out total of 103 teams.

Good Job representing our great city!!! Let's do it again in 8-Ball in March 2013!!!

Summer 2012 9-Ball Top Gun $900 Many Winners! : What a great weekend!
Golden Gate APA held it's invitational 9-Ball Top Gun Tournament for Summer 2012 on September 8, 2012.

Thank you to all Volunteer Tournaments directors and All Bars for giving us the space to run it.

Three skill level tiers, three different bars!

1st Place Prize $200 in each tier, 2nd Place Prize $100.

Skill Level:
1-3(low skill) @ Park 77: Tournament Director Mary Choi.
1st Place finish by Stephani Sheehan out of 10 players! She went home with $200
Runner Up, 2nd Place Mary Choi! She went home with $100

4-5(medium skill) @ Blackthorn Tavern: Tournament Director Ken Kamimura and Doug Robertson.
1st Place finish by Steve Velasco out of 20 players! He went home with $200
Runner Up, 2nd Place Gil Ubando! He went home with $100

6-9(High Skill) @ Happy Lounge. Tournament Director Chris Loughran

Chris Loughran: The high tier 9ball top gun tourney was a lot of fun yesterday! We had a low turnout, so we kept it casual, buying each other drinks, talking about shots inbetween games, exchanging tips/tricks... a really cool group. Dave Lindenmuth and Luis both shot great!!! (Luis gave me a serious ass whooping in the first round.) Yoli was Yoli, dazzling us with his crazy english and extensive knowledge of the game. Hot toddie, even though not participating in the tourney, stopped in to show his support. In the end, we were all winners, split all the prize money evenly amongst the four of us - something i that I feel really exemplifies the APA spirit and shooter comradery. Thanks to those who came out, and I hope to see more of you next time!!! "

Champions will be competing at APA's 2012 National Team Championships in August 19-25, 2012 at the Riviera Casino Hotel in Las Vegas for $15,000!!!
Two teams will be receiving Hotel, Flight and cash compensation!

Scratch & Burn won the 2012 Golden Gate APA City Wide 9-Ball Championships held over the weekend at Park 77. There were exciting games with some amazing shots, great camaraderie and sportsmanship. Thanks to Park 77 for making the event so successful.
We had Over 100 members of Golden Gate APA participating this event, and had many more to stopped by to watch the competition on June 9, 2012.

Hearth Breakers and ESL (formerly Pocket Rockets) won the 2012 Golden Gate APA City Wide 8-Ball Championships held over the weekend at Park 77. There were exciting games with some amazing shots, great camaraderie and sportsmanship. Thanks to Park 77 for making the event so successful.
We had Over 100 members of Golden Gate APA participating this event, and had many more to stopped by to watch the competition on June 2-3, 2012.

This was a three man team format from new teams.

9-Ball South West Challenge Oct 20-22 2011 : 105 three person teams arrived at the Riviera Casino & Hotel Resort in Las Vegas.
And more of their fans followed them out to play in support, extra fun, and mini tournaments.
9-Ball is the game this time. They are members of APA Leagues from the SouthWest from San Francisco to
Tucson. Congratulations to 1st place team "San Francisco #1" ! They got trophies and $2400!!!

New/Split Team Tournament Fall 2010 : The 3 new teams from Fall session battled it out in three man teams w/ Skill Level cap of 14.

PEW 3 (Blackthorn Tavern)
We ended up running the tournament twice, everyone had fun and wanted to play more. First round robin tournament was won by Break'n Run, second tournament was a 3 team bracket w/ a bye, and it was won by PEW 3. Each team got $200 and had much fun! Spring and Summer is coming up.
